Here's how boring I can get: My latest airplane under construction is an Avro Lancaster. Tiny kit, relatively speaking, so I thought it would be a quick build. Wrong. Three color camo with an airbrush is a pain. Here's a photo when I was ready to start color #2, the dark green on top of the dark earth brown. I had trouble with it when I was almost all finished, so I had to strip the paint from the entire right wing and start over. That's where I am now.

Just curious... I would imagine that by now you have made quite a few model aircraft. What do you do with them all? I recall seeing display cases in the smaller of your downstairs bedrooms, but I can't imagine them all fitting in there. So... is there a model airplane graveyard somewhere?
ReplyDeleteyeah ben, the airplane graveyard is his closet full of unbuilt airplanes that will never be built. well, I guess that's not really much of a 'graveyard' but close enough.
ReplyDeleteAlas, a few have found their way to the black beauty dumpster on ocassion. But it's relatively few. I have TWO cases now, so that helps to store some of them. But I have been indoctrinated by my late father to believe that bigger is better, so I'll someday have to thin the collection.
ReplyDeleteAnd what Lexi's talking about isn't the graveyard, it's the pre-existence, duh. They exist spiritually but not physically.
Also, if you look closely that Lancaster is small. It's only about 5 inches across. So that's my latest justification for buying more kits - they're small, easier to build, and don't need as much storage space.
The easier to build part is a lie.
